The Trust was very sad to learn today of the passing of William (Billy) Farquhar.

Billy was employed by Scrabster Harbour Trust as a general worker and coxswain of the harbour launch / pilot vessel from 1995 to 2006.

He dedicated almost four decades of service to the local maritime industry and joined the Thurso Lifeboat in 1969.  On his first lifeboat shift he attended the Longhope lifeboat disaster. He served on the lifeboat for a further 32 years with distinction, latterly as coxswain.

Highly respected and well liked, Billy will be missed by all at the Harbour.
